the-old-fashioned-004.jpg

“We drinkin’ on this ep!” Sara’s dealing with family stress but she made some money on Poshmark, and Laura is dealing with a seller’s market but is stocked up on hygge reading materials. Sara makes some old fashioneds for her and Laura and gives a rundown of the history of the cocktail with some fun facts. Then Laura gives tips to a listener about becoming a travel influencer. The ladies can’t help but get a little tipsy on this one, so enjoy!

rye/bourbon old fashioned

• 1 sugar cube (or 1/2 tsp of sugar)
• 2 dashes Angostura bitters
• 2 oz rye or bourbon
• orange twist

Muddle the sugar cube, bitters, and a barspoon of warm water in the bottom of an old fashioned glass until the sugar is dissolved. Add the rye or bourbon and stir to combine. Add one large ice cube and stir until chilled. Twist the orange over the drink to release some oils, and then rub it along the rim of the glass before dropping it in. Enjoy!

nuevo viejo

• 2 oz Bank Note blended scotch (we used Monkey Shoulder)
• 1/4 oz maple syrup
• 2 dashes Miracle Mile Forbidden Bitters (or Scrappy’s aromatic bitters)
• orange twist

Combine the scotch, maple syrup and bitters in an old fashioned glass. Add one large ice cube and stir until chilled. Twist the orange over the drink to release some oils, and then rub it along the rim of the glass before dropping it in. Enjoy!
